Support Our Work

Featured project:

Our archives!

We have approximately 25,000 pages of uncataloged archival material that needs a home and organization. That number increases daily as generous people donate new books, new documents, new videos, new photographs.

By December 2013, we expect to have over 100,000 pages of archival material, with more on the way.

Please adopt this project! We need:
  • A home (physical location), preferably at a university or a stand-alone facility in Greater Los Angeles;
  • People-power and library science expertise to catalog and file documents;
  • Assistance with data entry into our Microsoft Access database (for new materials);
  • Technical expertise in conversion of Access database to something accessible online, by subscription;
  • Brainstorming for ways to improve access (on our Web site? in the clouds?);
  • Funds to acquire new materials - see our wish list for archive expansion.
  • Funds to travel to Washington, DC, Salt Lake City, and Philadelphia where some of these archives are located (and must be acquired in person).
  • See also information regarding current archive projects.
If you would like to help us, please contact our Board.
     In the summer of 1942, the voice of the White Rose could barely be heard. The students distributed no more than 100 copies of each leaflet - painfully typing by hand (with carbon copies), or running off a few dozen more on a slow, hand-cranked duplicating machine.
     But in November of that year, a businessman named Eugen Grimminger, together with his assistant Tilly Hahn and some of their colleagues, assembled the funds needed to supply the students in Munich with paper, envelopes, high-end duplicating machines, and money for stamps and train travel. Only then could the friends we know as the White Rose amp up their efforts. They mailed and handed out around 10,000 each of Leaflets Six and Seven.
     Just as they needed financial support to "get the word out" about Hitler's crimes against humanity, so we too need your support and your assistance. It costs money to acquire archives, make documentaries, and travel for speaking engagements. Not to mention, buy groceries and keep electricity turned on while translating documents into English or working with students on a project.
